World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be available at the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure what will be improved following a reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as you can to level 15.
In the endgame you'll find that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrade the equipment they have it will be replaced with an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This can be useful but it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item is highly useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrade r allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, armor, and trinkets) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original state, requiring the player to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is computed each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players will need to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost listed above.
